Personalisation & Activation

This is the half of the programme most organisations never reach. The data gets unified, the platform goes live, the project is declared a success, and then the marketing team carries on sending the same weekly newsletter to everyone, because nobody built the journeys, nobody owns the segments, and the personalisation engine is running a single rule that has not changed since launch. The technology was the easy part. Using it is where the value actually is.

We turn a working data foundation into things customers experience: segments that mean something commercially, triggered and lifecycle journeys, real-time personalisation on web and app, in-store and contact-centre context, and audience activation into paid media so acquisition and retention stop working against each other. Then we measure it properly, with holdouts and incrementality rather than attributed numbers that flatter whoever owns the channel.

  • Journeys and segments designed around commercial outcomes (acquisition, conversion, retention, winback) rather than around the channels that happen to exist.

  • Measured with holdout groups and incrementality testing, so you know what personalisation added rather than what it took credit for.

We work in whichever platforms you run. We are a Bloomreach implementation partner with live client work. Bloomreach Engagement is where a good deal of this service lands, end to end from event collection and catalogue feeds through to campaigns, weblayers and journeys, and we also work across Braze, Klaviyo, Salesforce, Adobe and Optimizely. We pitch in at the level your team needs, from building the first ten journeys with you to running a full test-and-learn programme.

Activation is also where the martech and adtech halves finally meet. The same unified audience that drives an email journey should be suppressing existing customers from your prospecting campaigns, feeding lookalikes off your actual high-value segments, and sending back the offline conversions that let the ad platforms optimise on profit rather than clicks. Most organisations run these as two disconnected disciplines. Joining them is usually the fastest available uplift.

How We Help

Personalisation and activation engagements typically include:

  • Segmentation strategy grounded in commercial value (lifecycle stage, propensity, value tiers and churn risk) rather than demographic slices nobody acts on.

  • Lifecycle and triggered journey design and build: onboarding, browse and cart abandonment, replenishment, winback, post-purchase and retention.

  • Real-time personalisation across web and app (content, offers, recommendations and search) with sensible fallbacks for unknown visitors.

  • Paid media activation: audience sync, customer suppression, value-based lookalikes and offline conversion feedback into Meta, Google and the rest.

  • In-store and contact-centre activation, so the customer context that exists online is available to the people dealing with the same customer offline.

  • A test-and-learn programme with holdouts, incrementality measurement and a reporting cadence the commercial team reads.

We already have a CDP but nothing much has changed. Is that normal?

It is extremely common, and it is usually the reason we get called. Unification is a prerequisite for value, not value in itself: the platform holds a beautifully resolved customer record and nothing downstream is using it. The fix is rarely more technology. It is picking a small number of high-value use cases, building them properly, proving the lift and using that to earn the next round.
